“Investing in the Adaptation Economy”

Event description

Young Scholars' Webinar on Climate Finance and Economics

As climate impacts intensify with economic losses from climate shocks already estimated at US$1.4 trillion in 20244, adaptation is rapidly emerging as one of the defining investment opportunities of our time. Yet despite growing urgency, adaptation finance remains critically underfunded, representing just 3.4% of total climate finance flows in 2023, while private capital stays largely on the sidelines.

Effective adaptation requires building entire economies that reward businesses delivering affordable, scalable resilience solutions. With the adaptation market projected to grow from US$1 trillion today to as much as US$4 trillion by 2050, the presentation will outline the policy levers and investment frameworks needed to unlock this opportunity and why getting this right is essential for inclusive prosperity in a world beyond 1.5°C.
