Join our policy panel which concludes the webinar series on “Climate change mitigation policies and international agreements.” Our panelists will discuss the point of view of central banks on international cooperation and explore the role that they could play in this context.

We are lucky to be joined by three impeccable speakers: Dr. James Edmond (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy), Isabela Ribeiro Damaso Maia (Banco Central Do Brazil), and Jean Boissinot (Banque de France).

James Edmonds

Chief Scientist and Battelle Fellow
Jae Edmonds is a researcher at the Joint Global Change Research Institute a collaboration between the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he is Chief Scientist and Battelle Fellow, and at the University of Maryland in College Park, where he is College Park Professor of Public Policy. He is one of the pioneers in the field of integrated assessment modeling of global change. His research focuses on interactions between global and regional energy, technology, economy, land, water, atmosphere, and climate systems and global change. His most recent work focuses on international emissions trading and scenarios for climate finance risk. His work spans four decades, producing several books, numerous scientific papers and countless presentations. His work has more than 40,000 citations (h-index of 70). In 1978 he began what has developed into the Global Change Assessment Model, a frontier-class integrated model of energy, economy, water, land and climate interactions. He has been a Lead Author in all 6 of the major assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He is an active member of the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium (IAMC), serving on the Scientific Steering Committee, manages the IAMC’s external Advisory Council and co-chairing two Scientific Working Groups. He serves on numerous committees, panels and advisory boards. In 2020 the IAMC honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Isabela Ribeiro Damaso Maia

Head of Department, Sustainability and International Portfolio Investors
Isabela led Banco Central do Brasil’s risk management team for more than 20 years. She was responsible for the development and implementation of the international reserves risk management framework, and the strategic asset allocation also ran under her coordination and leadership. As head of the corporate risk department (2006 – 2022), she implemented the enterprise risk management approach (ERM) at the Bank, a process that supports decision-making with risk information from distinct dimensions (operational, strategic, financial, etc.). The establishment of an institutional framework for business continuity, compliance, and internal control functions was also part of her tasks. With her experience in asset and risk management, Isabela had technical articles published in books and journals during this time. Since May 2022, she is in charge of developing a transversal intelligence for sustainability at the BCB and strengthening the relationship with the rating agencies and the international portfolio investors.

Jean Boissinot

Head of Secretariat of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and Deputy Director for Financial Stability
Jean Boissinot is head of the secretariat of the Network for Greening the Financial System. He previously held various financial stability-related positions at BdF, DG Trésor, and HMT. Over the past decade, he has been involved in green finance in France and globally, including as CO21 Presidency policy lead. Biossinot graduated from Ecole polytechnique, Ensae and holds an MSc from Paris school of Economics.
